Happy New Year Wombats!

There is a new Wombat volunteer leadership team in place for next summer and we need your help! Super volunteers Debbie Attar, Margaret Bartholomew, and Katrina Sukduang have passed the torch. Pamela Franklin and Paula McGee will be the team A Reps next year and Allison Peppelman will continue as B Rep. Becky Umhofer will be supporting the coordinators of all social activities (Friday dinners, banquet, beach trip, senior recognition, etc.) and Leslie Holst will be supporting team management functions (registration, apparel, team photo, etc.)

We’ve put our heads together to identify some key volunteer needs and we want to hear from you (email to: [email protected]) about how you’d like to support the Wombats. We need the following:

Day of meet jobs that require special training

Voice of the Wombat (Saturday meets): We need an announcer for 3 home Saturday meets. If you have always wanted to have a radio show, this is the job for you.

Stroke and turn officials (Saturday and Wednesday help needed): You might actually have a better view than the Head Timer! If you're interested in what qualifies as legal butterfly we need you! We are losing several officials we need 5-6 parents to attend a 3 hour training this spring and then be willing to volunteer in this role regularly. We can’t have meets without officials. NOTE: We have consistently had enough volunteers that our officials only work ½ the meet.

Starters: (Saturday and Wednesday help needed): We need help a couple of parents to be trained to run the starting machine. Take your mark . . . BEEP!

Non-meet jobs (you can do one of these and one of the above)

Sponsorship Coordinator: Help keep the cost of swim team low by engaging with the previous year's sponsors commitment to the Wildwood Wombats. Seek out new sponsorship opportunities (remember that our pool members and neighborhood businesses are our best opportunities) and work with team reps to keep the website and printed materials updated with sponsor logos.

Graphic Designer: Calling all creative types! We are seeking someone with graphic design experience to collaborate with the apparel team to design the team shirt along with other possible apparel items.

Banquet Committee: We we need additional support for the banquet committee. The date and location for the swim team banquet are set for July 20, 2019. If you like to plan a good party, while working with fun people, this is the job for you.

Friday dinner team: We need a couple of more parents to help coordinate or Friday dinners at the pool. This is a fun way to get to know Wombats of all ages.

Senior Gifts/recognition: Please help coordinate recognition of our graduating seniors. We’ve found a parent of teens is usually a good fit for this role as you know what teens like!
